EDP – Energias de Portugal is a Portuguese energy company based in Lisbon. It was established in 1976 as a result of a fusion of 14 nationalized companies. The EDP Group’s activity focuses on the production and distribution of electricity and areas of information technology. In addition, the group covers complementary and related areas such as water, gas, engineering, laboratory research, vocational training, and property management. It used to operate in the IT consulting (Edinfor) and telecommunications (ONI Telecom) sectors, but it was sold to Logica and the private equity group The Riverside Company.
